Coronavirus:US volunteers test first vaccine
The first human trial of vaccine to protect against pandemic coronavirus has started in the US.
Four patients received the jab at the kaiser permanente research facility in seatle, washington,report the associated press news agency.
The vaccine cannot cause covid-19 but contain a harmless genetec code copied from the virus that causes the deseas.
Experts say it will take many months to know if this vaccine ,or others also in research ,will work.
The first person to get the jab on monday was 43-years -old mother -of-two from seattle.
« This is an amazing opportunity for me do something , » Jennifer Haller told AP.
Scientists around the world are fast tracking research .
And this first human trial,funded by the National of health ,sidespeds a check that would normally be conducted making sure the vaccine can trigger an immune response in animal.
But the biotechnology company behind the work,Moderna Therapeutics, says the vaccine has been made using a tried and tested process.
Dr John Tregoning ,an expert in infectious diseases at Imperial College London ,UK, said : »This vaccine uses pre-existing technology ».
« It’s been made to a very high standard using things that we know are safe to use in people and those taking part in the trial will be very closely monitored.
« Yes ,this is very fast-but it is a race against the virus ,not against each other as scientists,and it’s being done for the benefit of humanity.
Typical vaccine for virus ,such as measles, are made from a weekend or killed virus.
but even thes initial safety tests go well ,it could still take up 18 months for any potential vaccine to become available for the public.

A l’ été ,si tout va bien, des milliers de personnes pourront être inoculées notamment les personnels de santé pour un vaccin commercial,il faudra attendre le premier trimestre 2021. Pour la communauté scientifique ce sera du jamais vu.

European commission president Ursula Von der Leyen proposed a temporaly halt to non essantial travel to the European Union for 30 days,in an effort to contain the spread of dadly coronavirus.
Von der leyen informed leaders of the group of seven advanced industrial economies about the ban during a conference call on monday .The restrictions,which are subject to approval by EU leaders ,can be prolonged »as necessary « after the unitial 30-day period , she said on twitter.
The proposal by the commission ,the Eu’s executive arm,comes as increasing numbers of members states across the 27 nation bloc take steps to ban travel to and from affected regions as they seek to stem the outbreak at home.Travel between the EU and the U.K will be allowed under the plan,which will be finalized tuesday,Von der Leyen said.

Rwanda announced on saturday its first case of the new coronavirus,covid-19 In statement ,the health ministry said the patient is an indian citizen who arrived in the country from Mombai on march 8. »An indian citizen who arrived from Mombai, India on march 8,20202 has tested positive for coronavirus(covid-19).The patient had no symptoms upon arrival in Rwanda and reported himself to a health facility on march 13 where he was immediately tested , » the ministry said.
The ministry said that the patient is stable adding that primary contacts have been traced.
